Guild Alive with Culture 2014

Jack Henry

I went to Guild Alive with Culture this weekend and I found it very interesting, certainly a great way to use the park space we in Guildwood are so lucky to have!

The Guild Park was full of different booths with organizations ranging from local painters and photographers to community organizations such as Friends of the Guild Park & Gardens and the festival even featured Guildwoods own home-grown band GWood!

I met with folks from Friends of the Guild Park & Gardens who talked to the community about how the space could be used by the community as well as how Dynamic Entertainment’s Plans would affect the use of the park. Friends of the Guild Park & Gardens is a group that “Improves, enhances and protects Guild Park & Gardens; Collaborates with the City of Toronto, other levels of government, community groups and the private sector; Creates, organizes and promotes activities, programs, special events at Guild Park & Gardens; Assists in fundraising for the revitalization of the park and for specific capital improvements at the Guild Park & Gardens and Encourages input so Guild Park & Gardens is enjoyed as a cultural and heritage destination on a local, provincial, national and international scale” (Sourced from thier website at www.guildpark.ca) I also dropped by Paul Ainslies booth where you could find detailed drawings on the additions that Dynamic wants to put on to the original building, as well as community information regarding Ward 43. There were also other booths set up around the park displaying and selling everything from paintings to jams.

The festival is an amazing community event and a great way for the space in the Guild Park and Gardens to be used!
