Spring in Guildwood

I may be biased but spring always brings out the best in the community of Guildwood. There are lots of special days in the community, the first of these will be the GVCA’s Annual Guildwood Garage Sale Day on May 30th. Please stop by The Guildwoodian’s booth at 65 Dearham Wood to answer our Community Question! We look forward to attending these events and sharing the stories with those who were unable to attend! To keep up to date on events in the community of Guildwood check out our Community Calendar! If you have an event that you want us to know about please don’t hesitate to email us at guildwoodian@gmail.com with the details.

The GVCA’s spring Annual General Meeting also brings about changes to the leadership of the GVCA. All positions were filled by acclamation, congratulations to,

  • President - Dave Arnold

  • Vice-President - James Gilchrist

  • Treasurer - Jim Whitney

  • Secretary - Tina Villeneuve

Mayor John Tory also spoke at the AGM in March where he addressed the project in Guild Park saying that he “has no interest in a casino or ferris wheel in the Park” and that it was necessary to consult members of the community. Along with Mayor Tory, Ward 43 Councillor Paul Ainslie spoke regarding the Guild saying that the lease with Dynamic has been signed conditional on approval of the site plan and that contracts will be discussed for demolition of certain parts of the building and he told residents that all events in the park will go ahead this summer. Councillor Ainslie also congratulated the GVCA for meing the most active community organization in Ward 43.
