This years Guild Alive festival was held this past weekend on the grounds of the Guild Inn. The festival was another great success hosting multiple bands at the Greek Stage along with over 90 vendors with everything from Jewelry to Photography to Food. There were also many community groups set up such as Friends of the Guild Park as well as two of our local politicians, Paul Ainslie, Ward 43 Councillor and Mitzie Hunter, MPP for Scarborough-Guildwood.

We heard from Councillor Ainslie that work on the new Dynamic building would begin in the next week, with the wings of the Guild Inn getting demolished and renovations beginning on the original Bickford House. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to speak with Mitzie Hunter. We also learned more about the creation of the Rouge National Urban Park from a Parks Canada Representative, more on that in our post “What’s up with Rouge Park.” On top of that I spoke with many local artists and photographers who are worth checking out amongst the top are Adrian Liggins and Jamie Day Fleck.
