RESULTS: Shoreline Cleanup @ Guild Park

We had another successful shoreline cleanup @ Guild Park Saturday morning. The Friends of Guild Park and Gardens thank the community members, students, and MPP Mitzie Hunter who joined the cleanup. The total weight of the garbage and recyclables (including 2 tires) collected was 75 kgs (approx 165 pounds). The top three items collected were small plastic pieces, plastic bottle caps, and cigarette butts. Although cigarette butts topped the national 'dirty dozen' list in 2014, this is the first time in our five public cleanups that cigarette butts have made the Guild Park dirty dozen list. The most unusual items collected were a candle, 2 ear plugs (different colours), and a Christmas light.
